How to deal with stress breakouts

I really thought that by my 30s my acne was going to be completely gone. But man was I wrong! While it has decreased A LOT, it’s not completely gone yet. Especially when my stress levels go up, then it shows up with a vengeance.

So of course between planning the wedding and the move to Minneapolis my skin went nuts (talk about bad timing). Thank God it was pretty good on the day of my wedding! After that, however, it went downhill fast.

I don’t break out a lot, but even a small bump tends to bother me, maybe because I have a history of really bad acne and I have worked very hard to keep my skin clear.

So when I heard about the Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask and how easy it was to use, I wanted to give it a try. One of the biggest things that attracted me to it was that it seems to be very different from everything out there in the market (and trust me, I’ve tried it all... spot treatments, chemicals, peels, masks, you name it). Even though some of the things I’ve tried have worked, this mask in particular really caught my eye. Special blue and red lights that work together to prevent and heal acne all at once, no complicated multistep process, no mess,  AND I can multi-task while wearing it… sounds like a no-brainer to me!

I got the mask at Walmart at the acne treatments and products aisle. Each activator has 30 sessions you can use. To continue the treatment you would have to buy a new one that runs about $14 which if you think about it comes down to be $0.50 per day, so its really not that bad.

After trying it I can say it is extremely easy to use! I use it every night after removing my make-up with the Clean & Clear Makeup dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes. I like to rinse my face after using the wipes, but the wipes do an amazing job removing all the makeup so I don’t mind the extra step.  After my face is clean and dry, I get comfy in bed and turn the mask on while I read a book or check my phone. It’s seriously that easy, and comfortable!

The one thing I had a little bit of trouble with at the beginning was the place where you connect the mask and the activator. It took me a bit to realize what I was doing wrong. I figured out that that the trick is to make sure there is not metal visible!

As you can see the process is painless and easy. My fave part is that I don’t need to rinse anything afterward and I can just stay in bed and go to sleep. Stay tuned for a future post about the results I got from wearing it 30 days in a row!

Sweet clear skin dreams everyone!
