Have you ever done a staycation? Even better do you know
what it is? Well, my hubby and I got to do our second staycation this past
weekend here in Minneapolis. Staycation basically is when take time off (a
weekend or longer) but you don’t travel, you just stay in your city. Why would
you do that you may ask? Well, for starters to get out of the routine or to
simply disconnect without the traveling hassle.
My hubby and I were invited to The Marquette Hotel here in
Minneapolis to stay for a weekend. They recently renovated it so we were pretty
excited to check it out since there has been some buzz about it around the
city. I had not been to it previously so I don’t have a comparison point but I
have to say I am pretty impressed with it.
Every corner was so instagramable and well thought out!
Every texture and every piece thru the lobby, restaurant and rooms was very
modern but comfortable and it complimented each other very well. One problem
that I often encounter with the mid-century furniture trend is that although it
looks great, more often than not it is just not comfortable. But I think they
did a great job in choosing pieces that look good, are functional and are comfortable.
We checked in on Friday evening and got around to check out
the IDS tower which it’s where the hotel is located. Afterwards we went to
dinner to Jacque’s which it is the new restaurant located at the lobby. It is
an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant.
I have heard so much about their cocktails so I got a Mary Tyler Moore which
has tequila, peach liqueur, fresh lemon, lime and orange juice and simple
syrup. YUM! My hubby got the Minehaha which has organic gin, rosemary simple
syrup, grapefruit juice and rosemary. Oh, and all their cocktails are named
after a landmark or a piece of history from Minneapolis. Both drinks were to
die for but I definitely LOVED mine.
We had
an amazing dinner; for appetizers we got the Bruschetta, which I was doubtful
about because it had capers and olives and I cannot stand olives in general but
it was so well made that I couldn’t taste it at all. We also got the Tuna Crudo
which I am still salivating over! Even though Minneapolis is in the middle of
the country, their fish and seafood scene is not too shabby and the tuna on
this dish literally tasted like we were on a coastal city. We followed it with
our yummy entrees; I got the Saffron Tagliatelle pasta and hubby got the
Fedalini Pecorino. IT WAS SO AMAZING AND FLAVORFUL! Of course, we paired all of
these delightful bites with a Merlot wine.
The
next day we had arranged room service for breakfast because breakfast in bed is
a must on staycations! Well, at least on my book it is. They had a pretty
complete menu to choose from and they were right on time for the time we
requested it. We decided to go out for a walk since the day was amazing and
cloudless and played tourist for the afternoon. We got down to the Guthrie
Theater and the Mill City Museum; two of the best Minneapolis landmarks.
I
really think that staycations are a great way to clear your mind, and almost
like a reset button. We get too caught up on our day-to-day routine and we
forget to even enjoy our own city. Thanks to the Hilton and The Marquette Hotel
for the amazing invitation, we truly enjoyed every second of our stay!

ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful time! Love your outfit by the way
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in reserving this place because choosing the right venue which does not favor a specific culture becomes difficult. Halls here have fountains and elaborate pictures. Some LA venue halls display traditional artifacts and paintings.
