RSVP Yes to All the Holiday Parties!

Photography by: Angel Torres

Work parties, friends parties, family parties. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year and an even better when it comes to fashion and what to wear to all the event we all have during the holidays.

Since it's just my hubby and I here in Minneapolis we only had a few parties to attend; Sarah Edward's Holiday party (with probably the best well dressed people in the Twin Cities), I had a Target Creative Holiday at Lee's Liquor Lounge; my first time ever there and I loved it! reminded me of all the dive bars in Austin. And last but not least we hosted a small dinner for our friends before they all traveled. We decided not to travel this time around even if we already had plans to do so because of Milo and well he is still trying to recover from that horrible week wee had with him.

Time to Go Back to Basics

Photography by: Mailee Photography

Sponsored by Zappos
Classic looks can vary and really what means classic to me can be totally different to you. While I love classic, I do like to put a little twist on them just to sprinkle some of my personality into it. It also helps finding balance when it comes to a really loud piece of the outfit where it still makes a statement but feel right when surrounded by classic pieces.

Starting the Holidays With the Fam

Photography by: Angel Torres

Look who made it to the blog! Everyone let me introduce to you to my mom and sister! The finally came to visit me during Thanksgiving and I could not have been happier. While I was a little sad that my hubby was traveling, it made me happy to spend some time with my family.

My 3 Go-To’s To Get My Skin Winter-Ready

Oh the cold weather is definitely here in Minnesota! A little too early than what I would have liked but I guess it is time to embrace it and get ready for it. My skin is one of the first things that I try to think about since the earlier that I start taking care of it, the better it will look during the harsher months.

This will be my third Minnesota winter and I have learned so much about skincare the last two winters, so here are my 3 go-to’s to get my skin ready

Sherpa Everything Please!

Photography by: Angel Torres

Have you seen Sherpa around everywhere you go lately? Well, you are not alone. It is the latest and hottest trend for winter and I am here for it! I have to say I did not love the trend when it started but now in Minnesota that the weather gets chillier faster I have to say I have been loving it.

Cheers and Chill: Moving Into a New Home!

Photography by: Angel Torres

No, I am not a fan of moving, but when you find a good deal you gotta go for it! We literally moved 24 floors down on our same building to a 250 sq ft bigger apartment for a cheaper price! Initially I thought the move was going to be the easiest one to date (because I have moved SO many times in my life!) and I wasn’t wrong but I wasn’t right either.

Trend Alert: Mustard, Animal Prints and White Booties

Oh Fall! It's finally here with all its gorgeous colors. I must admit that some of the trends that I am seeing now took me by surprise. I was not expecting animal prints to come back so strong and little less that I would be all about it!

Cheers to Fall! A Time To Be Re-born

Photography by: Angel Torres

It's been a while since I write a lifestyle post and just let some thoughts spill out, so here we go!

It is no secret by now that my favorite season is summer. I love everything about it, the food, the smells, the weather, EVERYTHING! This summer specially meant a lot to me; met so many amazing people that I get to call my friends and created really amazing memories.

Coming out of a terrible last year, this Fall feels like some sort of re-birth period of time for me. We are moving to a new apartment in a month, the blog is doing so amazing, my marriage seems to finally be at a good place, my new role at work is complicated but nothing I wasn't anticipated to be, overall everything seems to be falling into place (hope not to jinx it!).

Military Jacket: The perfect Fall Transition Piece

Photography by: Angel Torres

I always have a tough time when people ask me how I define my style. Truth is I don't have a style but I do have one rule when I get dressed: I have to be comfortable. I dress myself depending on my mood! Some times I feel much more girly and I throw on all sorts of pinks and florals and some times I feel a little more daring and throw on a pair of high waist jeans, a military jacket and a pair of black leather booties. But that is the magic of fashion, that it truly is an expression of how you feel!

Embracing Sexy: Date Night Outfit

Photography by: Angel Torres

I've always have been a believer that being sexy does not necessarily mean to show a whole lot of skin. And by no means I am not saying that women who want to show their gorgeous bodies are wrong, but I myself am more of a "modest" type fo person when it comes to sexy-dressing. I also have always been a fan of date night (as my husband!) but I need to be better about dressing up for the occasion, at the end of the day even if we are married or in a relationship we should always try to keep the spark going.

Uptown Art Fair with Studio Ink

Photography by: Angel Torres

This past weekend I had the opportunity to finally go to the Uptown Art Fair here in Minneapolis. I had heard quite a lot about it last year so I was definitely looking forward to go this year. It truly did not disappoint! From canvases, bird houses and greeting cards we got to see so many cool stuff.

The Red Polka Dot Dress

Photography by: Street Style MN

You guys have asked me so much about this dress. And well, the story is a little embarrassing but here it goes:

I've been eyeing this off red polka dot dress and had it on my Pinterest board for quite some time. When I finally decided to buy it, well the price was a little more than I wanted to pay. If you know me, you know Im into cheap fashion. Yes, I do get certain pieces every now and then that may be over $100 but the bulk of my wardrobe is not.

Being Latina and Living in Minnesota

Photography by: Emily Voss

We should start from the beginning and you are probably asking why in the world do I live in Minnesota? Well, about a year and eight months ago a week before my wedding I flew out here for an interview at my dream job. In comes Target. On my wedding day at exactly 1 am (because I could not sleep) I signed and accepted a letter that I knew it was going to change my life as I knew it. And boy it did!

Not only I was starting life as a married woman but also I was yet again starting from scratch at a new state (yup, this is my second time around). A state completely the oposite to what I had known at that point in my life, and basically I didn't know anything else about it besides IT IS COLD. I was terrorized, but the thought of finally working at my dream job and building my life with my husband at a new place seem pretty exciting at the time.

The Museum Of Ice Cream Miami: The Power Of Imagination

Photography by: Angel Torres

A little over a month ago while we went back to Miami, my hubby and I had the chance to check out the Museum Of Ice Cream in Miami Beach. Oh what a magical place it was! 😍 It truly was everything I thought it was going to be and then some.

My Take On Corporate Dressing

Photography by: Emily Voss

You all know that I don't dress up for work. I dress up for event, and those are blogger events which are very different from "regular people" definition of dressing up.

I was invited to attend a Diversity & Inclusion conference in Las Vegas last week. Maybe you were following me along on my Instagram stories, maybe you weren't. To give you a little background; I am a creative person and the thought of dressing up literally makes my skin crawl. Have you been there? when thinking corporate dressing is as boring as a gray or black pantsuit and thats about all you get to wear all week long? Gross!

My Relationship With Sunscreen

Photography by: Angel Torres

Now that I’m back from Miami with a sun kissed tan, it really made me think about how I treat sun skincare as a whole. Not only because I wanted a tan (after hibernation for 6 months) but also because I became very aware of it a few years back.

I am not going to lie, I’ve been pretty reckless with my skin. I used to be the girl who would go a couple of times a week to the tanning salon to lay on a tanning bed back in high school. I KNOW! IT WAS AWFUL! I did it for a couple of years until I moved, and my tanning salon was not close to me anymore- Thank God! I truly can’t even imagine all the damage I caused to y skin and how many years I added to my appearance just because I wanted to be super tanned.

Living That Coconut Life

Photography by: Angel Torres

Its been an amazing couple of days in Miami so far. Had some family time, beach time, friends time, food time and of course some pool time too.

Being back in Miami after almost a year and a half, has brought a lot of memories but it has also shown us a different side to it and now we get to actually be tourists! There are so many things that I never enjoyed here in Miami that are well, SO MIAMI! As simple as drinking coconut water straight out of the coconut. Well, now I have and I'm happy I did it. It's going to be a problem because I dont think I can find it in Minneapolis when I go back. Ha!

Fave Finds From The H&M Sale!

H&M is having a massive sale just in time for warm weather fun! I rounded up my favorite items that are up to 80% off from accessories to pants, shorts and dresses. I already snagged the bow pumps and the loafers! Not to mention the super cute and trendy pink sock booties that every it girl seems to be waring lately!

Adding Back Spring Vibes

Photography by: Angel Torres

Well, Spring has finally sprung in the Twin Cities and I could not be more excited about it! After 2 feet of snow last weekend, hitting 60 degrees today felt like paradise. This winter felt like it was 30 years long so I am so excited to revamp my Spring wardrobe and the scents I've been using.

Each season has its charm, it's smells, and it's vibe. But I personally love spring and all the new life that brings. This year I'm really into spring dresses; perhaps not the traditional colors but anything flirty and light like this polka dot wrap dress. I paired it with this straw hat and bag because don't they just scream summer?! And no look is complete without the perfect scent to go with it so for this look I decided to use the Caress Sweet Violet Botanical Body Spray because I am a sucker for musky scents and I felt like it went perfect with the dress!

Making Your Way Back Into Fitness Less Painful

Photography by: Angel Torres

My fitness journey has been like a roller coaster. I hit an all-time high and then I get sick or I have to travel and that’s the end of that. I think consistency has been an issue for me ever since I can remember, even if I try. But now that I’m about to turn 32 and hopefully start a family soon, I want to break old bad habits and “adult” more.

I don’t work out to lose weight, thankfully I don’t need to. I work out for mental health and as a stress reducer. I took a looooong break from it because I was focusing on some other areas in my life but about 2 weeks ago as I was going to bed I thought to myself “maybe tomorrow I’ll work out” and the thought grew overnight and, in the morning, I was actually pretty excited about it.

Inspired by "The Women I Work With"

I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing women. BAD ASS WOMEN. Women that have showed me how to be tough but professional, to rock presentations and productions while rocking a baby bump and looking amazing while doing it.

But that has not always been the case. We live in a men's world and we all know that but I am so glad to be part of a generation that said "Enough!" and armed themselves to be the change the world desperately needed. Initially I wanted this blog post to be about the amazing sense of fashion that this girl bosses have but as I was writing it, it felt off. It felt like something more important was missing and I was completely reducing them to their sense of fashion. Which, don't get me wrong I do believe that success and a good sense of fashion and self care go hand in hand but it is not the only thing that matters.

Creating the Minneapolis Blogger Union

Photography by: Angel Torres & Carly Mac Photography

Almost 2 weeks ago I saw I dream I had 5 months ago become a reality. Creating a space for bloggers by bloggers where we could learn, grow and support each other in the Twin Cities.

Last October at the Fashion Week Minneapolis kick-off party I met Samantha from Downtown Blondie, or well she actually rescued me because I was alone in a corner ha! And being the sweet adorable girl she is we talked all night and I told her this crazy idea I had and asked her if she would be interested on helping me build it. Without hesitation she said yes and I knew right there and then that I had a partner in crime.

Winter Travel Skin Care with Olay

2018 started in such an amazing way! I finally am starting to feel like I’m settling into my Minnesota life with my hubby and Milo. And it also started with some of the things I enjoy the most; traveling. Last week I was in New York shooting some new stuff for Target.

But with traveling it also comes some worries like how to keep my skin happy and healthy while I’m on the road? Traveling takes a big toll on both our bodies and skin and I try my best to keep them both healthy. One of my secret weapons this winter has been the new Olay Whips! I have been using the Luminous line and it gives me the perfect amount of radiance without the shine- my skin can get pretty oily. So, what make it so special? Well, for starters the texture of it is like nothing I’ve felt before, almost like a velvet soft feeling. It also helps to minimize the appearance of pores and I am all up for it!

Macy's Resort Swimwear Fashion Show Recap

Photography by: Angel Torres

This year I have found myself at a lost for words more often than not, in a good way! So many amazing things have happened and its only January!

I had the pleasure to co-host the Macy's Resort Swimwear Fashion show at the Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka, MN. This was my very first event as a blogger and of course I was super nervous! I have more often than not been always behind the scenes and creating this events but I've never been the talent so this was really scary! But what helped me the most was my hubby (as always) and meeting my fellow co-host Lindsay Higgings and we bonded over cocktails in New York. She helped me feel more at ease and also guided me thru the usual process since she has done a couple of these already.

Debunking the Laser Hair Removal Myths

Photography by: Angel Torres

The first time I had laser hair removal was from what I thought one of the most respected clinics, turned out to be a total scam. Maybe you have heard about American Laser Center and how they ripped off thousands of people with treatments they paid in advance. Thankfully I was "done" with my treatment but I was never happy with the results and well needless to say the "life time touch ups" they promised were not going to happen.

I am Latina, and my hair is pretty dark and I am quite hairy. Shaving every other day is becoming way too much and a little tedious to be honest. Not to mention that I also suffer from ingrown hairs. So the whole, nice and smooth legs it has never really been true for me. The first time I attempted laser hair removal was for my underarms and my upper lip. The under arm was pretty good and I have to barely shave once in a while but my upper lip was the biggest waste of money, literally didn't budge. So I gave up and went back to regular shaving after a couple thousand dollars later. Yep, you red that right thousands. Until I discovered Pure Lux Med Spa.

These Shoes Were Made For Hustling: Embracing my inner Girl Boss

This is a sponsored conversation with Shoes Of Prey, but all opinions and text are my own.

Photography by: Angel Torres

First post of 2018! YAY! I’m hoping to set the tone for this entire year with this post and all the goals I have for my brand and my blog. I don’t think there would be a better way to start the year but with a great pair of heels that scream Girl Boss like this ones from Shoes Of Prey.

This year I am truly not feeling the whole “resolutions” thing. I think it just leads to disappointments. Now, that doesn’t mean that I don’t have goals for this year, to the contrary I have way too many goals! But I rather chose to have a clear understanding of my goals and working one day at the time to get there. I don’t know when I’ll get them but I am happy knowing that I have 365 opportunities to get there.
