The Little Red Dress

Photography by: Angel Torres

Life got hectic and got happier with our new pup Milo, so I've been investing lots of time and energy on him since this are his first weeks at home. He quickly became a priority and with the holidays in sight I decided to step back from the blog this month.

But Im back since a lot of you asked me about the little red dress I wore to the Strategic Socials dinner in November so I wanted to make a quick post with THE dress and some other more affordable options as well. The dress I wore was from Self-Portrait and I got it at Luxury Garage Sale Minneapolis. I paired it with this gorgeous Prada bag and blue-gray velvet sandals from Shoe Feature.

Winter Must-Have: The Camel Coat

Photography by: Sweet Petite Photography

November went by a little too fast and oh and behold! the 20s are in full swing. It happened in a blink of an eye and I don't think I was entirely ready for it. What I definitively was ready for was to finally find that camel coat I have been looking for years. The difference was that this year I wasn't looking, I thought about it but I had not come around to properly look for the coat other than a couple of Pinterest searches.

I found this amazing camel coat at none other place than Target (duh!) when I went in for a completely unrelated thing.

Getting Ready For Our First Christmas in the Same City

2017 was a year full of surprises, changes, struggles and learnings. I am not going to lie, it did kick my butt. I try to embrace changes as much as possible but 2017 takes the cake! After many years living in different cities and traveling to see each other, my hubby and I are finally settled in Minneapolis and we are slowly but surely trying to start our own little family. And as such, this year we decided to do our own Torres-Camargo holiday cards!

I know it may be super cheesy for some people but I find it fun to create things with our names and begin to talk about our little own family. I wasn't really sure where to start since I definitely do not have the time to design them but I wanted a design that wasn't cookie cutter and that truly reflected who we are as a family; fun, caring and modern. I found this website called Basic Invite to print out photo Christmas cards where it was super easy to find the right design,  customize it and order it.

My Winter-Proof Skincare Routine with Olay

Photography by: Angel Torres

This is a sponsored conversation with Olay, but all opinions are my own.

Winter is one of the harshest seasons and well, living in the Midwest it’s even worst. This is my second Minnesota winter and it definitely came in a lot earlier than it did last year. The air is much colder and we even had two snow days already. Last year around this time I remember it was maybe in the 70s.

As I get used to this whole “seasons” thing I have made some tweaks in my beauty routine to get my skin ready for them, specially for winter! I started the Olay 28 Day Challenge and I really love the results. Who could have thought that just by changing my normal moisturizer for the Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15 in the mornings and the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel in the mornings and nights I would feel such a difference?! A simple 2 steps that I am sure is helping me get ready for a harsh winter. And you guys know that I am all about a simple skin routine. The biggest difference that I have noticed is that before when I took of my make-up and wash my face, my skin tended to feel a little tight, then I would go to bed and I usually sleep on my side; that is exactly what causes wrinkles and fine lines around my eyes. I think the constant hydration thru the day with the Olay total effects Moisturizer plus the humph of the Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye gel at night really helped me avoid some fine lines.

My Faves From the Something Navy x Treasure & Bond Collection at Nordstrom

Photography by Something Navy

I love when bloggers turn this into something bigger than just sitting behind a computer and writing about fashion. I love when they go out there and really make it happen. They really inspire me every day to keep building my own brand.

One of my favorite bloggers; Arielle Noa from Something Navy launched her own line in collaboration with Nordstrom and Treasure & Bond about a month ago and I have to say I am obsessed! I have always loved her style and also because even though she is a HUGE influencer and blogger now, she somehow still feels relatable. She is not over produced, she is effortless, she is a mom, a wife. But mostly she is human. That is exactly why I love this collection because it reflects everything that she is, plus she can truly pull every single item she created.

All eyes on female creatives: The pros and cons

Photography by: Angel Torres

As you all know I work as an art director at Target. What does that mean? Well, I get to create advertising campaign for target that include fun shoots and I get to go to LA and NY quite often. I say am an art director by day and a blogger by night and weekends but the truth is that art direction takes over my life most of the time whether I want it or not, it’s just who I am.

I spend most of my time in front of the computer for both my job and blogging. Lately I have been noticing that my eyes are taking a toll from all this years in front of screens but about a month ago I started using this Phonetics Eyewear glasses and I have noticed a huge difference! I don’t have a prescription and you don’t need a prescription to get them. They are just to alleviate digital eyestrain but if you need a prescription you can apply it to them. Who knew that was a thing right? They have helped a lot and I literally get a compliment about them almost every day! Use the code FRIENDS to get 10% off!

1st Wedding Anniversary: Trip to Denver, CO

Photography by: Angel Torres

We had the chance to visit Denver for our first-year anniversary this past September. While we were hoping to get more of the fall in the mountains weather, we were surprised to have an 87F almost every day. I guess I associated Denver with colder weather? The mountains on the other hand were crisp and chilly and we just loved it. No snow, tho. So that was a bit of a bummer.

None the less, Colorado was a magical place to go visit. Very unexpected for us since we always (or rather I) want to go to a beach destination. But this year with somewhat of a budget restriction and being such a special celebration I really wanted to go to a place that would be memorable and unique. We had the luck to partner up with Visit Denver who helped us go to amazing places like the Red Rocks Park and The Denver Botanic Gardens. Another amazing sponsor for our trip was Mazda; who lent us the new Mazda 3 hatchback. We absolutely LOVED the car and it was the perfect size for the small road trip we wanted to make from Denver to Breckenridge.

Me Time On a Budget

Photography by: Angel Torres

I was asked by Casousele to participate in the #HygroCotton campaign, sponsored by Welspun. Although I have been compensated, all opinion are my own.

Sometimes life gets so hectic that we forget to take care of ourselves. But we have to remember that we are important too and if we are not ok then things will not be ok. This is why it is so important to take some time off even if it’s at home to pamper ourselves. I know that I am guilty of overworking myself. Between the blog and my day job, I literally have no time off and the few hours that I do have free I try to spend them with my hubby.

This past summer went by so fast and so many things happened that I really wanted to pamper myself without any pricey fancy spas. Don’t get me wrong I would love to but right now we are on a tight budget. So, I decided to do my own spa at home. This easy 7 item-relaxing session that requires nothing fancy and stuff that you probably have at home.

The Secret Side of Life in Minnesota

Photography by: Angel Torres

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Culvers. The opinions and text are all mine.

To a lot of people, they first (and only) thing that comes to mind when it comes to Minnesota is COLD and it all fairness that is exactly what I thought of it too. But then life moved us here and after my first summer here my mind is completely blown.

From the cheese curds, to the lakes and everything in between now I realize why people stay here just because of the summer. It is hard to put it into words, you truly have to live it to understand it. One thing that captivated me from the beginning about this place was that regardless of the weather, life does not stop.

Puffy Shoulders for Fall

Photography by: Angel Torres

Just when I thought fall was here, it suddenly disappeared and left us hanging in the upper 80s with 60% humidity. Never the less we all know that it will get here at some point so we need to get our wardrobes ready while we still have time.

We got a taste of the cold weather in our recent trip to Denver and Breckenridge (blog post and video coming soon!) that got me excited for it – ha! Who knew I could get excited about cold weather?! – but mostly got me inspired for more fall outfits.

How To Style The Not-So-Basic Dress

Photography by: Angel Torres

Seems like it was yesterday when we were sipping on rosé next to the pool or sailing away on lake Minnetonka. Oh summer! you truly when by just too fast to digest you in all your glory. Or maybe it's just me since well, I live in the midwest right next to Canada. Each summer second here is cherished and used to the max, but I do have to say that I was surprised of how much Minnesotans complain about the heat.

Trending: Mini Skirts For Fall

Photography by: Mailee Photography

While summer was a magical experience in the Midwest, we are already getting glimpses of fall. I wasn’t digging it at first until I saw this Christmas movie that got me excited about the cold weather.

One of my favorite thing that comes with welcoming fall is the new wardrobe. The thigh high boots, cozy sweaters,  felt hats, oversized scarfs and sweaters!

Staycations at The Marquette Hotel Minneapolis

Photography by: Angel Torres

Have you ever done a staycation? Even better do you know what it is? Well, my hubby and I got to do our second staycation this past weekend here in Minneapolis. Staycation basically is when take time off (a weekend or longer) but you don’t travel, you just stay in your city. Why would you do that you may ask? Well, for starters to get out of the routine or to simply disconnect without the traveling hassle.

My hubby and I were invited to The Marquette Hotel here in Minneapolis to stay for a weekend. They recently renovated it so we were pretty excited to check it out since there has been some buzz about it around the city. I had not been to it previously so I don’t have a comparison point but I have to say I am pretty impressed with it.

Jungle Fever For Jungle Print

Photography by: Angel Torres

The jungle print really started last year early summer, but as anything it took a little while to take off. To me it was love at first sight! Maybe it is because at the time I was living in Miami and I was really embracing all the beachy vibes this print gives me. It is one of those prints that you really cannot over do and that looks great on every piece whether is a one piece like the one I am wearing here or on a top or just pants. I even saw once a 2 piece with a crop top and pats with the jungle print and it was TOO cute!

Blogversary: Miles + Smiles Turns 2!

What a journey it has been! It feels like it was yesterday that while eating BBQ ribs at Shorty's in Miami that my husband and I came to the realization that I had so much to say to the world and so Miles + Smiles was born.

The blog has been transforming with me as my life keeps changing. It started as a long distance relationships blog, then into a wedding blog and now beauty and fashion have taken a big part of it. I don't like to call my self a fashion blogger, or a beauty blogger because I don't consider myself an "expert" in either of those. I want to tell my story, what has worked for me thru the experiences that life has given me and hope that someone finds it useful.

Orlando Bound: My first girls trip!

Back in June I had an unexpected gift; BlogHer invited me to attend their event in Orlando. I had heard a lot about it in the past but with everything happening in my life at that point I just really forgot to plan the trip. But when they invited me to come I took it as a sign from life giving me a push to learn more about blogging and keep getting better at it. So, I decided to go.

The first thing that came to my mind was hotel! Where was I going to stay?! I could not afford staying at the hotel by myself. So, I posted it on Facebook and reached out to my blogger friends. Luckily, a rather big group of bloggers from Miami were going and renting an Airb&b and they let me join them.

Summer Vibes: A swimsuit for every mood

Photography by: Angel Torres

Summer oh summer! I forgot how much I loved warm weather. Minneapolis weather has been nothing but beauty. It has some days that can get to be as humid as Miami, but that may be 1 day out of the month. The rest of the days it’s a warm breeze, mid 80s and sunny. All you ever want to do is be outside until sunset (around 9:40 pm!) and either be on one of the lakes, hiking or laying by the pool.

Speaking of pool; I wanted to do a blog post about swimsuits. I have been addicted to them and I completely blame Miami for it. No, I did not go to the beach all the time (unfortunately) but somehow, I started a swimsuit collection.

Skin Confidence After 30

Photography by: Angel Torres

It’s been a month since my 31st birthday and I can truly say I have never felt more comfortable on my own skin. I used to be very self-conscious about my body (always way too skinny) and about my skin (dealing with acne).

People say that after 30 your skin starts to act up and that wrinkles start making an appearance. According to the Good Housekeeping Study, some women get really concerned about aging and can end up paying $400 for an anti-wrinkle cream. However, you don’t have to go to that extreme to get great results.

How to wear sneakers at work and get away with it

Photography by:

As you guys already know, my middle name should be comfy. Ever since I realized that you could upgrade a comfortable piece, my life changed forever and I never went back to uncomfortable outfits- unless is a cute pair of shoes then I may consider it.

Bringing Color Back

Photography by: Angel Torres

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Tide. The opinions and text are all mine.

Summer has been teasing Minnesota for about 2 weeks now and one of the things I enjoy the most is all the new pieces that I get to add to my wardrobe. I am learning to experiment with trends but also finding a twist to them to keep my comfy chic style.

One of the things I’ve been eager to add more to my wardrobe is color. I fell into this neutral color craze back in the fall. Don’t get me wrong, I think neutrals (specially blush) are a fool-proof wardrobe but with summer upon us a pop of color here and there feels appropriate.

Staying active and feeling good

Photography by: Angel Torres

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of prAna.  The opinions and text are all mine.

As you guys know, this year I’ve been wanting to focus on staying active. I do not like to work out but since I lived in Austin I realized that doing something does improve my mood a lot. This year I was basically tricked by my friends to start working out and now I am hooked. But the only workout that I truly enjoy I found it here in Minneapolis and it is called Alchemy 365. It is a mix of power yoga for warm-ups and cool-downs and 10 mins of very intense actual workout (I call it soft core CrossFit).

The beauty in "beauty sleep" starts with a good facial cleanser

Photography by: Angel Torres

This content was sponsored by Olay, but all thoughts and opinions are my own. I hope you enjoy following along! #ad

It really feels like forever since my last blog post! But I am happy the rebranding is done and that I got so much positive feedback from you guys!

I partnered up with Olay to bring you guys my night routine. You already know that I do not like to put a lot of products on my face and that I like to keep it minimal. So as expected my skin routine is short and simple.

OOTD Spring Ready!

Photography by: Angel Torres

I was “blessed” to have had such a mild first winter here in Minnesota. And I put it in quotes because I know this abnormal weather is only global warming and it’s scary, but I’m not getting into that.

What I do want to talk about is the amazing weather that is upon us and all the new outfits we will get to wear! Reconnecting back with a REAL spring (it’s been over 10 years for me) and seeing how nature comes back to life really creates a huge sense of excitement for everyone. I thought I was going to laugh at people here when it was 40F and I would see them in shorts… well, I was wrong because I became one of those people. The cold makes you appreciate warmer weather, even if it’s a couple of degrees more. I forgot how much I ADORE seasons and how excited it gets me every time to discover all the new trends, colors and fabrics.

Finding self-love in natural care products

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #LuminousWhite #CollectiveBias

April it's Earth month, so I wanted to dedicate some of this month’s post to mother earth and how can we make better decisions for our bodies that also entail better decisions for our planet.

This time I want to talk about how choosing better products for our personal care, also mean self-love and finding ways to be more natural and intentional about the brands you use.
A couple of years back in Austin, I became very conscious and careful with each and every product I used. From cleaning items, to personal care items, make-up, food, pretty much everything.

Keep calm and keep traveling with Dove

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with the Dove and DiMe Media. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

I know I have been MIA from the blog, how crazy is it that it has been almost 3 months since my last post! I feel so guilty, but I promise I will try to keep up more often.

So why have I been away for so long? Well, as you may remember I told you guys I got a new job at Target. Well the first months were a bit easier so I had time for the blog and my YouTube channel. But it seems since the beginning of January my job just took over my life. I’m not going to lie, I am struggling to find a middle happy ground where I have the job of my dreams and keep doing the blog which is what I love to do. Still working at it.
