Making Your Way Back Into Fitness Less Painful

Photography by: Angel Torres

My fitness journey has been like a roller coaster. I hit an all-time high and then I get sick or I have to travel and that’s the end of that. I think consistency has been an issue for me ever since I can remember, even if I try. But now that I’m about to turn 32 and hopefully start a family soon, I want to break old bad habits and “adult” more.

I don’t work out to lose weight, thankfully I don’t need to. I work out for mental health and as a stress reducer. I took a looooong break from it because I was focusing on some other areas in my life but about 2 weeks ago as I was going to bed I thought to myself “maybe tomorrow I’ll work out” and the thought grew overnight and, in the morning, I was actually pretty excited about it.

But I do believe that having a plan is necessary to stay motivated when it comes to working out and certain things can make it easier and more enjoyable.

1. A body and face cleanser that will work as hard you do in the gym:

And by hard I don’t mean harsh, but rather find a product that will revitalize your skin after your work out. I have been using the Olay Cleansing Infusion Collection with Deep Sea Kelp & Aloe Extract that has biorenewing hydrators that improve the skin’s condition as you wash, revealing that natural after work-out glow. After all, we work out to look and feel better! I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks after my HIIT workout and I can feel my skin being nourished after high intensity workouts. You can get it from Walgreens here Also, the line comes in a Crushed Ginger with Citrus Extract scent!

2. Step up your gym clothes game:

About 5 years ago I was guilty of throwing on whatever leggings and top I could find and rush to my class. Now that I’m a little more fashion conscious, I realized that great, cute work-out clothes make a world of a difference to get motivated.

3. Have a workout plan:

I know I’m the kind of person that either I need a class with someone to tell me what to do, or a very clear plan. Going into the gym to only be at a treadmill or stumble on different workout machines that I probably have no clue how to use is just not for me and can be very discouraging making your motivation go down the pipes. Now-a-days there are so many online workout plans that you can do at home or your home gym that there is really no excuse not to.

Working out should not feel like a chore, or something that society tell you, you have to do to lose weight. Look at it as a stress reliever, as self-care and as something that will make you feel great afterward because your body will thank you!

  3. Vitamin A and the pre-vitamin, beta carotene are closely related supplements. There are definite benefits to the nutritional supplementation of both Vitamin A and beta carotene but there are also dangers to their supplementation. Many people do not realize that beta carotene is converted within our bodies to Vitamin A but supplementation of one in lieu of the other is not equivalent to the supplementation of both. There are also other members of the antioxidant carotene family include cryptoxanthine, alpha-carotene, zeaxanthin, lutein, and lycopene, most of which do not convert into significant amounts of vitamin A. These will be discussed also in this article.inversion table for neck traction

  6. Exercise is good for back pain, not all exercises are beneficial. Mild discomfort should disappear, muscles become stronger. If the exercise lasts more than 15 minutes, patients should stop exercising.
