Creating the Minneapolis Blogger Union

Photography by: Angel Torres & Carly Mac Photography

Almost 2 weeks ago I saw I dream I had 5 months ago become a reality. Creating a space for bloggers by bloggers where we could learn, grow and support each other in the Twin Cities.

Last October at the Fashion Week Minneapolis kick-off party I met Samantha from Downtown Blondie, or well she actually rescued me because I was alone in a corner ha! And being the sweet adorable girl she is we talked all night and I told her this crazy idea I had and asked her if she would be interested on helping me build it. Without hesitation she said yes and I knew right there and then that I had a partner in crime.

We met a couple of times to brainstorm what we wanted this to be and where we wanted to take it. I became the Sponsorships Officer, and Sam became the Social Media Officer. Later on, Alissa from Wedded Liss joined our team as the Event Officer. By the way, huge shout out to Paola and the amazing Bloggers Union platform she has built for so many chapters around the world! She has been an amazing support guiding us along the way in this process. We would probably be lost without her help specially now that we launched and the overwhelmingly positive response from the blogging community.

And so, with the support of our first sponsors who trusted us completely into making this happen, we had our kick-off meet up on January 28th. One of the most special places in Minneapolis welcomed us as our host; Brick x Mortar. It is a fairly new venue that calls them selves a private social club and a co-working space, but unlike any other co-working space every inch of this place was SO instagramable making it of course the perfect venue for 20 bloggers to get together and get crazy with the cameras and phones. For our first meet up, we hand picked a handful of bloggers that we knew were going to be the seeds to make this community grow. We also invited one of the best photographers I've met in Minneapolis; Carly from Carly Mac Photography who along with my amazing hubby captured this magical brunch.

Speaking of brunch! No great brunch is complete without mimosas and Risata Wines was our sponsor for the day along with Rise Bagels who supplied the most delicious bagels with all the toppings you can imagine. The mimosas as well as the conversation flowed for about 2 hours and we wanted to make the bloggers part of what this was going to be so we gave them the floor to let us know what they wanted to learn, to do and to talk about. Their smiling faces filled my heart because I could tell the felt like they belonged and that feeling is what empowers us together.

We have so much in store for our chapter and I am beyond thankful to have two of the best partners I could ask for, two women that hustle as much as I do and that full time jobs, husbands and blogs aside they accepted to join me on this crazy project. And last but not least THANK YOU to my husband who has been more that I could have ever asked for, not only my photographer but also standing and supporting me every step of the way.

If you haven't registered to our chapter please do so here so that you don't miss all the exciting events and opportunities that we already have in store!
